Being trendy and fashionable even when it’s cold is possible: here are five garments that should never be missing in winter
Winter is usually the enemy of dressing well. To fight the cold very often improbable outfits are used, with many layers and little affinity between the garments. By choosing the right models, and matching them correctly, it is possible, however, to be glamorous even in winter. Here’s how to do it.
Always start with the coat
The coat is the most essential item of a winter outfit. Very often, along with shoes and socks, it is the only visible part of the look. For this very reason, betting on a warm and elegant garment can be the trump card. For maximum versatility and to wear it on practically any occasion, the advice is to choose black or grey outerwear or the classic camel coat: they look good with everything. They are perfect all day long, from morning to work to evening for a dinner with friends.
Scarf and accessories
To enrich and warm up the coat, this year’s fashion has brought extra-large scarves to the catwalk and then to the shops. They also cover the shoulders, limiting (hopefully) the feeling of cold and enriching the look with colours and liveliness. The black coat is a perfect match for grey or burgundy scarves, those who want to dare a little more can opt for the fantasies, the trendy ones are the tartans, with checks in pastel colours.
Another garment that should not miss in the wardrobe when it’s cold is the gloves: in wool, leather, even fleece, it doesn’t matter, keeping your hands warm is essential in winter. The colours? The ideal is to match the gloves with the extra-large scarf, for a tone on tone that gives the outfit elegance and taste.
Shoes and bag
The ideal shoe for winter? The boots. Perfect for when it rains, elegant and casual, the shoes (or ankle boots and ankle boots for those who love the more sporty models) are perfect to face the hard days in the rain keeping your foot dry. They’re not very hot, but you can make up for it with heavy tights or by adding a wool sock: it won’t be sexy, but it keeps your foot warm.
The bag for when it’s cold must necessarily be spacious, able to “accommodate” the accessories (scarf and gloves first of all) when you arrive in warmer environments such as the subway or the office, and a material that can withstand the rain and bad weather. One of the trendy models for this winter is the backpack, comfortable to carry, stylish and versatile.
