The Dark Theme for WhatsApp has finally arrived for everyone (or almost). Chats can now be darkened and users, for the moment Android, will be able to decide which theme to put on their devices. Here’s how to install it directly on your smartphone.
After repeated experimental versions, the new Dark Theme arrived publicly on WhatsApp. Or at least all users using the Beta version will be able to set up this new chat display mode. But be careful because at the moment it will be enough to download a sample file to test and use it in all Android smartphones without any problem and without changing Android or other settings on the smartphone. Here’s how to do it.
WhatsApp and the dark theme: here’s how to install it
A lot of development on this new “Night” mode by WhatsApp developers. It’s been several months that the Dark Mode is in Beta phase only for a few selected “users” and probably the implementation of the same on the code of the messaging system has not been as easy as for other applications. However, everything seems to have gone well, and the new feature is now ready to be installed on Android smartphones in Beta version.
How does it work, and how can it be installed? Basically, users can activate the new mode directly from the settings of the application itself in the “Theme” section. Three distinct options will appear here: Clear, Dark and Energy Saving, which will guarantee energy savings by offering a grey colouring rather than entirely black.
To try the new Dark Theme on WhatsApp, you will only have to use the version just released by the developers if you are registered to the Beta circuit of WhatsApp (HERE to subscribe even if the seats are now an illusion). Otherwise, you can download the APK (Version 2.20.13) to install on your Android directly from THIS PAGE.

At this point, all you have to do is install the APK like a regular file, once you allow your smartphone to install applications from unknown sources. The WhatsApp application will then look like the previous ones if not for the change made because of the Dark Theme which, be careful, will not be immediately set by default but will have to be changed in the settings.
WhatsApp Dark Theme: How to Set It
In this case, go to the settings within the application. Then selecting “Chat” the first item that will appear will be “Theme”. Here you will see a pop up that will allow you to change the tone of the chat and the whole application. You can choose between the classic “light” or the new “dark” or even the “energy-saving” one that will guarantee a lower energy demand in case of low battery thanks to grey tones.
Once set all the sections of the application will be modified and then the chats will become dark if set precisely the Dark Theme, as well as the states or the part of contacts or settings. Everything will be darkened, and you’ll finally be able to enjoy your most used messaging application, even in this new look. At the moment, unfortunately, the developers have released this new “dark” version only for Android and only in Beta version. But it’s clear that the transition to the release for the free version, always Android, or even the one for iOS will be a matter of days.
