Being a leader is no walk in the park, but being a woman leading a business is an even harder road to walk upon. A woman leader has to break the barriers of gender inequality through sheer determination, hard work, and persistence to prove her worth.
Jayanthi Ganapathy is one such female leader who defied all odds to emerge as an accomplished entrepreneur as a woman of color, bagging a successful accounting venture to her name.
Her professional growth started when she was hired as an accountant by Philips Electronics, where she quickly rose through the ranks. During her time with the company, she was responsible for the general accounting function, which included accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, and schedules, working on fixed assets, account analysis, and keeping track of inventory.
Jayanthi handled every task delegated to her efficiently and with a strong work ethic, an attribute she credits to her mother. A strong woman who faced many challenges, Jayanthi’s mother raised her children by herself. She always encouraged them to strive for independence by doing what they were most passionate about.
While working at Philips, Jayanthi was aware of significant shortcomings within the business world. She noticed how up-and-coming businesses had no sense or knowledge when it came to the company’s finances. She wanted to help these struggling businesses because she knew they could make a difference in the world with just a little advice.
Hence, she established her accounting consultation company, giving it her all despite having no prior knowledge of running a business. Jayanthi has established three services within a few years that help small businesses run more efficiently. The first one is the company FinAccurate. Established in 2015, it offers comprehensive accounting and bookkeeping services to small to mid-sized companies.
Boston Robotics, a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) founded in 2021, automates accounting processes through Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. The last one, ProcessWurks, is software created to help small businesses execute their day-to-day operational processes through technology and automation.
As part of her next project, Jayanthi is focusing on enhancing the expert service provided by her company. She wants to equip her team with the best technology so that they can help their clients to the best of their abilities. Through her exceptional qualities of setting goals and adaptability to the industry’s changing trends, Jayanthi will be making waves in the business world for a long time.
